Web-based Services

Web-based or Internet-Based services (sometimes called e-services) are anywhere, any-time applications delivered over the Internet or a corporate intranet to service-equipped users. There are two primary examples of "Web"-based services: E-mail and Web applications or sites.


Types (Speeds/Flavors):

     • Web Hosting; Small to Corporate Solutions

Hosting is the leasing of space and services for domains or application (e.g. www.example-dearler.com). Dealer hosting focuses on high level hosting solutions and that is why our servers, Internet connections, and power redundancy systems are all of the highest quality available.
Application e.g.: Dealers that wish to utilize and maintain there own domain (e.g. www.dealername.com). Both dealers who already have websites and may require better service or pricing, and dealers who need to register there domain names will benefit from FordStar NG Project Choice hosting services. Note: Dealers do not need to subscribe to Project Choice Internet access to take advantage of these hosting services.

Hosting services include:

   •All hosting equipment on premises
   •UPS backup server - for immediate power outage support / power clean up.
   •Fully automated natural gas generator - powers entire facility
    indefinitely in case of power outage.
   •Primary and Secondary DNS Service
   •Full Daily Backups w/ antivirus scan
   •RAID 5 Fault Tolerant Disk Array
   •Microsoft FrontPage Extensions
   •Macromedia Dreamweaver Extensions
   •FTP Access
   •Telnet Access (Unix hosting only)
   •Log File Access: clients can view the activity to their site in real time
    as well as log files from the previous day, week, month, etc. Unitizing
    a powerful but user-friendly interface, displaying static's, and even graphical reports on every
    aspect of your web traffic.



     • Dealer eMail

Ford Motor Company's Dealer eMail system was launched in April 2001. The intent was to provide a powerful tool that increases the ability to communicate more efficiently. Over the course of the past two years, we have received valuable dealer input and have incorporated many of the requested changes into a newly enhanced system for dealer and company use!

What is Dealer eMail?
The Dealer eMail system is a tool for communicating at your dealership. It allows employees (as designated by the Dealer Principal) to communicate in a way that saves time and money.

Each dealer will receive FIVE FREE eMail boxes!

A new direction – What will change?
Primary communications from Ford Motor Company will still reside on the FMCDealer.com site. Supporting communications will be delivered to dealers via the Dealer eMail system. Therefore, it is IMPORTANT that dealers assign mailboxes to key employees and ENCOURAGE routine review of the contents.

Examples of communications that will be delivered via eMail include: Executive Announcement, Regional Communications, Dealer Council Meeting Notes, Program Updates, Training Information, Newsletters and Other Communications that require immediate attention.
